e& and IBM Unveil Enterprise-Grade Agentic AI at Davos

Global technology group e& and IBM have introduced enterprise-grade agentic AI to transform how organizations manage governance and compliance. They revealed this major step at the World Economic Forum in Davos, marking a clear shift for e& from simple chatbots to advanced, action‑driven AI systems. The company’s aim is to create a governed AI foundation that improves policy interpretation, reduces delays, and strengthens decision-making across the enterprise.

The two companies built the system using IBM watsonx Orchestrate, which hosts hundreds of tools and customizable agents. It now supports employees and auditors by giving fast and reliable access to regulatory and compliance information. Moreover, they embedded this AI within IBM OpenPages, allowing the platform to produce clear and traceable responses that follow internal governance rules.

A proof of concept developed in just eight weeks showed that the technology can function smoothly at scale. IBM’s Client Engineering team designed and integrated the solution, while Gulf Business Machines supported delivery. Together, they showcased how agentic AI can move beyond basic question‑and‑answer tools. Instead, it can reason, take actions, and remain aligned with the strict governance standards that large enterprises require.

Hatem Dowidar, Group CEO of e&, said the company wants to adopt intelligent systems that support large-scale decision-making. He noted that the goal is to move past standalone experiments and instead embed AI into the core of the organization. According to him, this collaboration with IBM strengthens the company’s ability to make faster and more consistent decisions across its risk and compliance operations.

IBM watsonx Orchestrate helps the system work as an action-oriented assistant. It handles tasks, connects with enterprise systems, and supports human teams around the clock. Because of this, employees can access information at any time, which improves response times and streamlines compliance processes. The AI also operates within watsonx.governance, which e& already uses. This approach ensures that the tool remains explainable, trustworthy, and compliant with regulatory needs.

The AI sits directly inside the OpenPages platform, making it one of the region’s earliest examples of enterprise-grade agentic AI used in real operations. It shows how AI can support human judgment while staying aligned with regulatory demands. It also highlights IBM’s model gateway approach, which allows large language models to work across hybrid environments without losing governance controls. This progress reflects broader Enterprise AI market growth, driven by rising demand for governed and explainable AI across large organizations.

Ana Paula Assis, IBM SVP, said companies must ensure accountability when embedding AI into core operations. She explained the collaboration shows how agentic AI can be responsibly designed and trusted to support human-led decisions.

This deployment marks a milestone for e&, establishing a secure, scalable foundation for advanced AI across the organization. It also reinforces the group’s commitment to responsible innovation. By embedding action-driven AI into governance and compliance, e& sets a regional benchmark for enterprise-grade agentic AI.
