The acquisition, valued at $900 million, marks a major step in Mobileye’s strategy to lead the development of Physical Artificial Intelligence across autonomous vehicles and humanoid robotics.
The deal combines Mobileye’s expertise in advanced AI and large-scale production with Mentee’s breakthrough humanoid platform and deep AI talent. Together, the companies aim to accelerate innovation in two transformative markets: autonomous driving and humanoid robotics. Mobileye’s automotive revenue pipeline totals $24.5 billion over eight years, reflecting strong demand for its driver-assistance and autonomous technologies.
Mentee Robotics, founded only four years ago, has made rapid progress in designing a cost-efficient humanoid platform built for real-world deployment. Its robots learn from human demonstrations, adapt to new tasks, and safely interact with people and objects. Unlike systems that rely heavily on teleoperation or massive data collection, Mentee’s approach focuses on simulation-first training and intent-aware reasoning. This enables robots to acquire new skills efficiently while maintaining safety and affordability.
The acquisition is expected to accelerate Mentee’s go-to-market strategy. Initial proof-of-concept deployments with customers are planned for later in 2026, with full commercialization targeted for 2028. Mobileye will pay about $612 million in cash and issue up to 26.2 million Class A shares, subject to adjustments. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, pending customary approvals.
Mentee’s technology advantage lies in two pillars: scalable AI and vertically integrated hardware. Mobileye’s Board of Directors and Intel Corp., Mobileye’s largest shareholder, approved the acquisition. Prof. Shashua, who is also a co-founder and shareholder of Mentee, recused himself from the board’s decision-making process. Mentee will continue to operate as an independent unit within Mobileye, ensuring continuity while benefiting from Mobileye’s AI training infrastructure.
Mobileye expects the acquisition to modestly raise 2026 operating expenses but believes long-term benefits will outweigh short-term costs. The company will showcase its Physical AI vision at CES 2026, with Prof. Shashua detailing vehicle and humanoid robot convergence.
