Sulzer has launched a cutting-edge pump testing and assembly facility in Mexico, further strengthening its presence across the Americas. This move supports the company’s long-term strategy to serve key industries such as energy, water, and chemicals more efficiently.
Located next to Sulzer’s existing manufacturing site in Cuautitlán Izcalli, the new facility features state-of-the-art equipment and a fully digital testing system. Notably, it includes a 10-meter-deep hydraulic test bed capable of handling flow rates of up to 23,000 cubic meters per hour. As a result, Sulzer can now perform precise testing and streamlined packaging—all within a single location.
Moreover, this investment comes in response to the growing demand for high-performance fluid handling solutions across North and Central America. As infrastructure projects continue to expand, Sulzer is taking steps to meet regional needs through localized support and faster delivery.
The launch event brought together company leaders, partners, and dignitaries. During the ceremony, Suzanne Thoma, Executive Chairwoman of Sulzer, emphasized the facility’s importance. She pointed out that this development aligns with Sulzer’s ongoing focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. In addition, Jonathan Lloyd, Head of Flow Equipment for Energy and Infrastructure, and Claude Ollivier, Managing Director of Sulzer Mexico, addressed the audience. Yves Reymond, Deputy Head of Mission at the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, also attended, representing Switzerland.
Following the ribbon-cutting, guests toured the facility and observed the test bed in action. Consequently, they witnessed its ability to replicate real-world operating conditions, which ensures pump performance meets strict quality standards before leaving the site.
Furthermore, Claude Ollivier highlighted how local testing and packaging enhance service delivery. Since customers can now view performance validation firsthand, confidence in Sulzer’s solutions increases significantly. Additionally, reduced lead times and faster regional response offer practical advantages for clients.
Previously, the Cuautitlán Izcalli campus housed Sulzer’s manufacturing, service, and Chemtech operations. Now, with the addition of this new facility, Sulzer offers a fully integrated value chain. From production to final packaging, all processes are completed on-site.
